 Baseball developed in the mid-Nineteenth Century from the British game of rounders. According to legend, Abner Doubleday and Alexander Cartwright developed the game, and the first professional team was formed in 1869. Some of the greatest players include Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, Ted Williams, Jackie Robinson, Jimmie Foxx, Hank Aaron, Pete Rose, Honus Wagner, Rogers Hornsby and Willie Mays. Some of the best pitchers include Cy Young, Walter Johnson, Sandy Koufax, Nolan Ryan, Steve Carlton, Christy Mathewson, Lefty Grove, Grover Cleveland Alexander, Tom Seaver, Bob Feller, Bob Gibson, and Satchel Paige.

Official American League (Harridge) baseball signed on the sweet-spot by manager Luke Sewell, Jack Jakucki, and Mike Kreevich, and by Nelson Potter, Willis Hudlin, Mark Christman, Jack Kramer, Tex Shirley, Tom Turner, Al Hollingsworth, Frank Mancuso, Milt Byrnes, Red Hayworth, George Caster, Mike Chartak, Gene Moore, Al Zarilla, Don Gutteridge, Floyd Baker, Chet Laabs, George McQuinn, Denny Galehouse, Vern Stephens, Ellis Clary, Sam Zoldak, Bob Muncrief, coach Fred Hoffman, coach Zack Taylor and, signing lightly at a later time, Joe Sewell (HOF), older brother of manager Luke Sewell. The St. Louis Browns won their only American League pennant in 1944, losing the World Series to the St. Louis Cardinals in six games. All Browns playing in the 1944 World Series have signed this ball. Signatures average  “7/8” strength. Very lightly shellacked. LOA from JSA.

Includes a 3.5” x 5.5 signed “Joe Sewell” HOF plaque and a 3.5” x 2” signed “Joe Sewell” business card as Cleveland Indians Scout Supervisor.
